Chicago is immersed in a supernatural war — innocent bystanders will not be spared

Home to the Institute of Supernatural Research, the world’s largest and most prestigious facility for paranormal science, Chicago has become a hotbed of supernatural controversy and civil unrest. This war doesn’t just have two sides, however: if the Institute is a side unto itself, the opposition is multitudinous. First is the Paranormal Right, led by fiery and opinionated Sam Haain, determined to keep ‘normals’ out of paranormal people’s business and bodies. Then there’s the Secular Normalists of Chicago, a group of normals who don’t like the Institute or the supernatural. Paranormal activists, including the ever-altruistic Micha Bellevue, would like to get their two cents in as well.

And then there’s Jude Coffin.

Jude enjoys the finer things in life: an exceptional wine, a good whiskey, non-menthol cigarettes, and a cute guy with a great ass. Despite being a Siren—an ‘aural captivator’ for the supernaturally PC—he doesn’t like paranormal politics, paranormal science, and certainly not paranormal activists.

Despite this, Jude and his similarly supernaturally-endowed twin brother Jason are lured to Chicago to undergo study at the Institute. Jude remembers why he stays away from the paranormal world when shortly after their arrival the Institute takes his brother hostage and Jude gets thrown right into the center of the madness. He quickly discovers his only hope of getting him back is enlisting the help of Sam Haain and Micha Bellevue. Tangled up with these two clashing personalities, Jude gets a look at Chicago he never wanted: a city at war with itself, full of angry supernatural people, conspiracy, and murder. Also, amid this political chaos, another more subtle war is sparked: one between Micha and Sam for Jude’s attention. What’s a reluctant–and pissed off–soldier to do?

Perhaps, become a hero. And pick an opinionated side–of the bed. Which is a bit harder than kicking ass and saving your brother…
